Centauri Erbium:YAG LaserThe Centauri Erbium:YAG is the first laser system ever cleared to market for use on hard dental tissue (teeth). Of the 170 million such procedures done in the U.S. annually, the laser is currently qualified to handle about 60 percent, according to clinicians. What this means to our patients is that when the laser is used, only about one percent of patients report enough pain to require needles during the procedure or pain medication after the procedure. We now truly have the ability to do dentistry "without the needles or drills". The laser's vaporizing action not only eliminates decay neatly and quickly, it vaporizes any bacteria present in the cavity. Thus there is frequently no need for post-operative antibiotic prescription.
